Overview of Fifth Grade Music:
Fifth grade music is an extension of those audiation skills we began developing in third and fourth grade music. We continue building our understanding of music through creativity and improvisation.
In fifth grade, students have command of their singing voices. We focus on extending the child’s singing range, controlling the voice (dynamics) and singing with expression.
We welcome back the recorder to the classroom and begin performing songs with an extended range of notes with and without notation We begin to utilize our improvisation skills and knowledge of chord functions on our recorder. As a learning incentive, we begin our second round of Recorder Karate, with all new recorder belts to earn and more challenging song and concepts to understand.
